From an Instagram DM to a bespoke dining table, and eventually to a permanent ÉTAUDORÉ design.
Some pieces in the ÉTAUDORÉ collection begin with a client looking for something very specific. This was the case of the Noemi Table.
In August 2023, Noemi Gwalter Rubino reached out to us via Instagram. She was looking for a special dining table for her home, something with enough presence to become the centerpiece of the space.
She liked several designs from our collection and had a clear idea of which elements she wanted to bring together.
The starting point
Noemi particularly liked the sculptural base of our Rigi Table, made from individual solid wood pieces arranged into a multi-faceted column.
For the tabletop, she wanted an oval shape. Our Dom and Eiger tables already had an oval form with straight sides, although Noemi imagined something softer and more rounded, with continuous curves along the entire edge.
That combination became the starting point for a completely new table.
The sculptural Rigi base and the oval Dom Table were two of the references behind the original design.
We began developing a table that would combine the architectural character of the Rigi base with a large, rounded oval top designed specifically for Noemi's home.
Developing the proportions
The tabletop of the original Noemi Table was designed at 265 × 125 cm.
Its generous dimensions gave the table the presence Noemi was looking for, while the rounded outline kept the overall shape soft and inviting.
Two sculptural column bases support the large tabletop and create a strong statement underneath it.

The bases also include a clever functional detail. One section of each multi-faceted column can be removed, giving access to the inside of the base. This makes it possible to clean inside the column and even use the hidden space as secret storage.

Made by hand in Poland
Once the design and proportions were finalised, our artisan studio in Poland began bringing the table to life.
Each element of the base is individually cut, shaped, sanded and finished before the complete structure is assembled.

The finishing process is also done by hand, allowing the natural grain and texture of the wood to shine through.

The first Noemi Table
The finished table was delivered to Noemi's home in June 2024.
After almost a year since her first Instagram message, the idea we had been developing together for months finally became part of her home.
The original Noemi Table in the home it was designed for.
Seeing the finished piece in its intended space confirmed how well the proportions, curved tabletop and sculptural bases worked together.
Noemi was delighted with the result, and we loved the design too.
That was when we decided the table should become part of the permanent ÉTAUDORÉ collection.
There was also an obvious name for it.
The bespoke table became the Noemi Table.

From one home to many
Since then, the Noemi Table has found its way into several other Swiss homes.
Because every table is made to order, its proportions can be adapted to suit different rooms.
A 210 × 100 cm version in solid oak and natural finish was created for a home overlooking the Swiss mountains.

Each version has its own proportions and character while keeping the elements that define the design: the rounded oval tabletop, solid oak construction and distinctive multi-faceted bases.
A collaboration that continued
The table became the beginning of an ongoing collaboration with Noemi.
Since completing the original project, we have worked together on several other pieces, including the Meryl Office Chair. Noemi also collaborates with ÉTAUDORÉ on interior projects.

The story of the Noemi Table captures something that has always been important to us at ÉTAUDORÉ: some of the most interesting designs emerge through conversations with the people who will eventually live with them.
